NIGERIA UNFOLDS PLANS TO REVERSE DECADES OF PROGRESSIVE DECAY IN IBADAN ANCIENT CITY

Fresh building blocks were again laid in Ibadan, unto Nigeria’s urban development framework, when the Federal Government unfolded plans to reverse several decades of progressive decay in the ancient city.

The project, which comes as a technical assistance programme to states, is meant to assist Oyo State Government in its physical planning and urban development efforts, directed at ensuring improved living condition as well as overall quality of life for inhabitants of Ibadan in general and the inner city areas in particular.

Christened, ‘the Inner City Regeneration Plan for Ibadan’, the 20-year scheme will facilitate the rejuvenation and regeneration of the project communities, comprising Gege, Foko and Popo, as well as the transformation of adjoining communities /districts in Ibadan South West Local Government.

 

 

ARCHITECTS REGISTRATION COUNCIL OF NIGERIA HOLDS VIRTUAL INDUCTION

Nigerian architects took further steps towards consolidating professional practice with the induction of newly registered architects and firms, by the regulatory body, the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).

The event, which was held virtually, had in attendance more than 100 participants, who joined the ceremony. The virtual induction made ARCON one of the first in Nigeria to hold such a ceremony online.

ARCON President, Sir Oladipupo Ajayi who spoke at the ceremony, urged the architects to hone their entrepreneurial skills and explore numerous opportunities associated with innovative designs.

 

LONDON’S OVERALL ATTRACTIVENESS AS TOP INVESTMENT DESTINATION REMAINS UNDIMINISHED

And in Europe, London’s overall attractiveness as a top investment destination has remained undiminished, with the first major poll of global investors since the start of the COVID-19 crisis showing that 99% are still keen to invest in the city, with 79% currently actively doing so.

The poll shows London faring consistently better than other comparable locations across a key range of metrics including access to global talent and quality of life, despite the broader economic and public health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The poll, conducted by FTI Consulting for the City of London Corporation as part of a global investor intentions survey, engaged with 506 leading investors with assets under management of €850bn ($1tr) and was undertaken on 5-10 July.

A seasoned administrator, Tinubu started his career with Ecobank Nigeria Plc.
